In The Reign of Terror – GA Henty – Can’t recommend

  • by

This is GA Henty’s take on the French revolution. Maybe I would have found it more interesting if it were my first introduction to the political dynamism in French enlightenment politics but beside Dicken’s a tale of two cities and Hugo’s les Misérables it was pretty empty. The one thing I did find interesting on it was Henty’s take on Robes Pier. He gives some texture to a “true believer”. It helped me see how someone could be so sincerely blind that they would create a monster that would end up eating them.
